The secret to your success

HI Reader!!

I'm back. (Mostly).

With a story.

It hasn't ended yet, which makes it the best kind. Because here I am in the middle, sticking my finger out to get a sense of which way the wind is blowing and thought I'd drop in and give you an update.

I've moved 16 times in the last 24 years. Moving, as it were, became a specialty of mine.

When people would list moving amongst the top 3 stressors (wedged between divorce and death), I would scoff:

"Surely people are being dramatic. Moving is fun! Moving isn't that big of a deal. One year I sold all my stuff and moved to Ecuador to teach! What's wrong with people?"

(I know many of you are probably shaking your head at 30 year old me who sold my stuff to go South America, who had no idea what it really means to "MOVE ALL YOUR STUFF.")

An important qualifier to add here is that the majority of my moves happened when I was living solo. On my own. Free as a bird. No spouse. No kid. Pick up and go.

Even moving the past 2 times we stayed in the same community, same school for my daughter, same job for my husband, same friends, same same same etc.

WELL. Let me tell you. When I thought to myself, "moving states? No problem, I got this," I had NO IDEA WHAT WAS COMING FOR ME.

It has been a rough landing over here. A landing so rough I have thought (yelled out loud) several times, WHAT WERE WE THINKING???

Most of what I was doing outside of working and parenting fell apart. Including this email community.

For that I am very VERY apologetic.

And I want to hear from you.

Are you back for another school year?

What's feeling URGENT right now?

Are you writing? Do you want to be writing?

What would be helpful for you to hear about weekly?

I am in the 2nd month of my Client Momentum Lab container and love working with these amazing, brilliant, heart-led teachers. So much of what we are doing is taking small, consistent steps toward what they want—and being accountable for each one.

This month we are working on turning those connections into real conversations about how they can help solve a problem for those specific business owners or companies.

We are tracking it, we are checking in with each other, we are staying accountable to way progress works—not all at once. But over a series of steps we continue to take... even when it feels hard.

Because this habit is the number the one habit that will make your success in building something, in creating something of your own, or in walking into the next version of your work —whatever that may be—inevitable.

The #1 reason people don't have success is that they simply stop trying. They get overwhelmed, they stop finding that 15 minutes a day or a week (which eventually does turn into more) because they feel like they just can't.

If you can keep investing whatever small amount of time you can find in your future self, eventually you will wake up and that future will be your present.

I would love to be your accountability buddy here—hit reply and tell me what is the small way you are moving yourself forward this week? Need help with how to start? Tell me that too + your situation and I'll write back with your first or next step.

I've got you!

Cheers,

Meredith

PS As my family finally starts to get settled, I am vowing to drop in here at least twice a month. I think Monday is my new magic day. Let's make it happen.

📖Turn the Page📖 "What if I hate it, Mom?" I signed deeply, fighting the urge to just tell her she didn't have to do it. She had been complaining and whining the entire ride over the pool. If it's one thing that sends me over the edge it's incessant whining about something that hasn't happened yet. I gathered my patience and my breath and was about to launch into a familiar diatribe about why we have to honor our commitments, stay the course, try new things etc. And then, I blew out all the...

📖Turn the Page📖 Announcement! I am building an on demand, self-paced version of From Classroom to Copywriter that I'm very excited about! A few of you have let me know you might be interested. The short version: Positives: Less time and much less money Downsides: No community aspect and no coaching with yours truly) stay tuned. I will be starting a waitlist for those who think they want to hop on board the debut...

I know there are some SHARP teachers in this community, Reader. And still...not everyone hits reply and says the thing they are thinking. But I got a really good question after my last email and I’m honestly so excited about it! Because here’s the thing— it led me down a rabbit hole of thinking: How can I most fully support these incredible women into and through what I KNOW can be a powerful next chapter? (Even if they are still struggling to see it?) (TL;DR: I’m adding a fantastic bonus for...
